Church Membership

"Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it."  1 Corinthians 12:27

Anyone who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior may become a member of Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church.

Membership is not predicated on how much one knows but on the sincerity of his/her faith. Learning what it means to be a Christian and a church member becomes a life-long process of sharing, growing, and serving together.

There are three ways to join the church: 1) By profession of faith; 2) By reaffirmation of faith; and 3) By Letter of Transfer from another church.

Membership classes on Presbyterian beliefs, the church history, and its mission are conducted twice per year. Attendence at one of these classes is mandatory before officially joining the church. Contact the church office for the time, date and location of the next class.

JOINING IS AS EASY AS 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

1. Indicate your readiness to officially join the church to a minister, elder, deacon or any church member.

2. Attend a six-week "Membership Class" conducted by the clergy.

3. Be introduced to and approved by the members of the Session.

4. Be formally introduced to the congregation at one of two times per year, either on Pentecost Sunday (June) or on Reformation Sunday (October).
